Then, for a change, we met someone that I knew. That's right, I, an American who's lived all my life in the New World, actually had family friends in Switzerland. This was the second time I had seen Steve in many years, and the first time I'd ever met his wonderful wife, Elizabeth and his absolutely lovable sons, Glenn and Ackley. Steve is an artist, as you see him pictured here beside one of his creations in his studio. I had a great time with his son, Ackley, playing guitar, recorder or piano, while he played his cello. He's really quite naturally talented, and loves to play -- we expect a fine musician's life for him. Here he is pictured with his two rats, intelligent little creatures whom we all played with (at the dinner table).
And here I am, proudly standing with my little buddy.
Artistic prowess runs in the Litsios family. Not only Steve and his son, but his mother, Susie, has been an artist for many years. She and her husband, Socco (i.e., Socrates) are longtime friends of my parents. Of course, we paid them a visit in their lovely country home, not far from Geneva.
Everyone spoke French, except me.
Socco, by the way, is author of a popular book about malaria, which you might want to check into.
Below is a little scene from Susie's studio desk. Inspiring artifacts, I presume. Check out the Litsios' art and recent exhibitions on their web pages.
