This may seem like a bit of a jump -- well, it was: after Paris we hopped on a train all the way down to Sienna, Italy. We had Eurail Passes, and people to meet all over Europe in strange patterns. This is our favorite church (architecturally, I mean), the Duomo in Sienna. There, we met my best buddy from high school, Eric (now owns a nice health-food supermarket in Richmond Va.), and his new wife -- actually on their honeymoon (pictured here taking pictures). The four of us roamed all over Sienna, and the next day all over Florence together. We had a great time with Eric and Maxine, and, if I may say so, I think we helped them get their marriage off to a good start. We crossed over this ancient famous bridge (over the river Arno), and, yes, we saw the famous David, among many other

impressively crafted sculptures from those old days. David was in good shape, except for the fact that his toes were a bit bruised by some art-hating maniac a few years back. Now David is protected by bullet-proof glass, that goes up about as high as his ankles, which would be easy to climb over, and easier to shoot over…(but then, not everybody in Italy is packin like in the USA.)
